-Stamp Act was put into place.
-Virginia Resolution. The virginian assembly refused to follow the stamp act. -Stamp Act Congress. Representatives from 9 of the colonies decided that it was unconstitutional for the British to make them pay taxes without their agreement. -Declaratory Act. British Parliament repeals the Stamp Act, but declare that they are still able to tax the colonies. -Townshend Act.Britain comes up with a new taxation for things like tea, glass, lead, paper, and paint. -Boston Massacre. The colonists are angry beacause of the troops in Boston, so they harrass the soldiers guarding the department that collects imported goods. -The Townshend Act is repealed. -The Tea Act. The British Parliament allowed tea companies to sell its tea directly to the colonies. The colonists find out that the British hid taxes within the regular price. -Boston Tea Party. Angery from the Tea Acts, a couple of colonists disguise as Indians and throw tea into the Boston Harbor. -Intolerable Acts. The British government was very angry with the colonists so they punished them by closing down the port of Boston until they payed them back for the tea that they destroyed. -Battle of Lexington and Concord. -Battle of Bunker Hill. -Continental Congress issues the Declaration of Independance. -France recognises US independance. -US defeat at Battle of Concord. -British forces surrender under Cornwallis at Yorktown. -Treaty of Paris. Ending of Revolutionary War. -Adoption of American Constitution. |
