The Stamp Act Congress was held in New York, September of 1765 by a group of colonial leaders who were trying to get the Stamp Act repealed. The Stamp Act Congress decided to boycott so that the British government lost money and would have to take the Stamp Act away. They stopped purchasing items that had the stamp on it. After a lot of boycotting/protests the Stamp Act was repealed in January 1, of 1766.
What was before and after the Stamp Act?
During the road to the Revolutionary War there was an act before the Stamp Act called the Sugar Act which also had to do with taxes, but after the Stamp Act, the Townshed Act was put into place. The Townshed Act also enforced the payment of taxes but it was done in a way so that the taxes were hidden. The British knew the colonists were unhappy about paying taxes so the taxes were included into the price of the product. This way they couldn't actually tell if the product had a tax, but this didn't fool the colonists.
